Chainmail is belived to have originated with the Celts. The Romans started adopting the use of mail shirts or ''lorica Hamata'' soon after their early encounters with the Gallic Celts. It's use continued well into the Empire. Eventually replaced by the Lorica Segmentata for the Roman Legions, it's use continued with the Roman Auxillieries. This handsome shirt is trimmed in leather at the throat and has removable studs for attachments. The butted rings are blackened. One size fits most. Will accomodate up to approximate size 50'' chest.
